A NEW Combine record has been set, much to the shock of many around the NFL.

Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy, 20, has gone down in the record books after an incredible run in the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis.

Following an already impressive first attempt, which clocked in at 4.25, he subsequently bested this with a 4.21.

As such, Worthy now has the fastest 40-yard NFL Combine time in history, beating John Ross’ previous record of 4.22.

Among those stunned by the Longhorns star’s time was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, and three-time Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes.

“4.25… crazzyyyy,” he tweeted after the first run.

Mahomes then followed Worthy’s second run up with a series of laughing emojis and the caption, “my bad 4.22….”

Fans were quick to come to the same conclusion in the comments following Mahomes’ reaction.

“Yeah it’s a wrap. Patrick Mahomes just found his new Tyreek Hill,” tweeted one onlooker.

“Tell (Chiefs general manager) [Brett] Veach to go get him,” commented a second.

“Xavier Worthy… YOU are a chief,” a third said.

Even Mahomes’ Chiefs teammate, and former Longhorn, Charles Omeinhu chimed in.

“@PatrickMahomes what you think,” he tweeted along with a clip of Worthy’s run.

And it’s not just Chiefs stars who were amazed by Worthy’s time.

“4.2 is crazy sheesh,” tweeted Miami Dolphins star, and former Chief, Hill.

“Ouweeeeeee X!!!” wrote Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs.

While Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. added, “Wow flying.”

After his run, Worthy spoke to NFL Network’s Stacey Dales, where his first words were, unsurprisingly, “I’m tired.”

He went on to say, “It’s crazy. I watched the combine my whole life. As a kid, seeing John Ross run that, I never thought I’d be able to be on the stage and do that.”

Dales later asked what message he hoped this display had sent out, to which Worthy responded, “If you feel like you can do it, just do it.

“As you can see I ran the first one 4.25, I could have stopped and just sat down for the rest of the day, but I really just wanted to go get that record for myself.”

A two-time All-Big 12 First-Teamer, Worthy racked up 1,014 receiving yards and five touchdowns during his third and final season with the Longhorns.

All in all, he finished his Texas career with 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns in 39 games.
